Pokemon Black & White
Pokemon Black & White are the first Generation 5 Pokemon games but are still on the Nintendo DS, but are designed for the Nintendo DSi. Released in March 2011, coming out at an awkward time of the year, they didn't sell as many as they had first anticipated.
Release Dates:
Japan: September 18 2010
USA: March 6 2011
Australia: March 10 2011
Europe: March 4 2011
Platform: Nintendo DS/Nintendo DSi
Region: Unova
New Pokemon: 156
New Moves: 92
New Abilities: 41
Gameplay Changes:
For the first time ever, the Pokemon Professor is a woman, Professor Juniper. She gives you one of three starter Pokemon, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott, following the usual Grass, Fire & Water starter pattern. Also, for the first time since Red & Blue, no old Pokemon are found during the course of the game before you reach White Forest, or Black City, after you have defeated the Pokemon League. In Black & White, a new change has been made to the overworld - seasons. Seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) are added in for extra effects, and mean some Pokemon only come out at certain times of the year. The seasons last for a month each, rather than the usual real-life 3 months, to make the game feel less long. The Unova region is also based off of New York City, with the biggest city - Castelia City - being Manhattan. There are also 12 legendary Pokemon, the second highest amount after Sinnoh's 14.
