Pokemon Diamond & Pearl
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl are the first Generation 4 Pokemon main series games, and are the first Pokemon games to be released on the Nintendo DS. One of the most awaited games in 2007, they were big hits. They include many new features, including a new region, new Pokemon and Pokedex and a new feature called Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Release Dates:
Japan: September 28 2006
USA: April 22 2007
Australia: June 21 2007
Europe: July 22 2007
Platform: Nintendo DS
Region: Sinnoh
New Pokemon: 107
New Moves: 113
New Abilities: 47
Gameplay Changes:
In Diamond & Pearl, Nintendo took advantage of the DS' telecommunication system, and inserted the Nintendo Wi-Fi Centre, meaning players can connect to other users (DP only) without using a Link Cable. Also the GTS (Global Trade Station has been introduced, meaning trainers can trade with other people around the world.
Also new is the introduction of the Pal Park, a place where you can migrate Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire, FireRed/LeafGreen & Emerald onto your DS without having to give a Pokemon in return. However, this cannot be undone, and the Pokemon will be removed from your GBA game.
The Day & Night system has also been introduced, making some Pokemon only available at some time during the day. The timings are: Day (8am-4pm) Evening (4-8pm) and Night (8pm-8am).
A big thing introduced into Diamond & Pearl, is the new stat changes. All moves now have their own category, based on the contact rather than the type. So now for example, Gyarados has always had a better Attack stat than Sp. Att., so STAB was never really much help, as Water moves were all Special category, but now, a good Physical move like Waterfall can be taken advantage of, and made 120 base power insteadd of the original 80.
There are 14 Legendary Pokemon in the game, (although, only 6 are in the Diamond & Pearl Pokedex) more than any other game.
Version Exclusive Pokemon.
Some Pokemon can only be found in one game, either Diamond or Pearl.
